Scenario 2: Not For Profit
You provide a mix of services to a diverse client base. Funding is fixed and is declining in real terms. This is exacerbated by significant rises in wages. Compliance issues are becoming more complex and are diverting precious resources away from front line activity. Competition for funds is increasing and traditional sources are not contributing as much as they have in the past, partly due to people giving less and the competition from other NFPs for these funds.
Your workforce is stable and long serving. There are high levels of engagement with your organisation’s mission, often a driver for people to originally want to work in this sector and for an organisation like yours. However, the downside of this high engagement is a difficulty to shift your operating model to reflect current circumstances.
Resistance to change is high, and management has little authority or experience to correct this.
High levels of frustration exist

As demand for your services is only expected to increase, both in volume and complexity, there is a need to re-examine how you manage the operation. Being able to do more with less is a crushing need.
Being able to re-orient the way your people deliver the services will take time, but needs a consistent and ‘fit for purpose’ framework to guide them.
